aislyn turns 4!

her actual birthday was on tuesday may, 12th. She and i made chocolate covered strawberries and pretzels to take to school for her classmates. She got to wear a special crown and they sang to her at snack time.
That night, we brought a special 'cupcake' cake over to grandma and grandpa groves' house. We did strawberry cake for the bottom and strawberry/vanilla ice cream for the top part! We had never done ice cream for the top before and learned that it does melt fast! you can see in the pics below that it started to melt a little - of course, it still tasted wonderful!!
This was the first year we gave Aislyn a 'kid' party. We decided that since she is may and hunter is august, they will rotate every other year. That way, we are only planning one birthday party and can maybe do something a little more than a backyard party. When it is not their year for a party, they can pick something that we can do together as a family. Kevin and I didn't know how this idea would go over at first - but they seemed to like it! Hunter is excited about coming up with a cool family thing for his birthday this year! score one for mom and dad!

Here are a few pictures from Aislyn's birthday party this past weekend.
